    Screensavers Not Working

Hi everyone, this is my first post and first time using Ubuntu.

The first two default screensavers made funky lines go accross my screen, the third one just seemed to freeze my computer completely (freezes, then turns the screen black and lots of liney patterns appear all over the place). I can't even get into the screen saver menu without this happening, so I can't disable it.

What can I do? I don't care about the screensavers working, I just don't want my computer to freeze if I leave it unattended for 10 minutes.

    Thanks!
    Scott

    Re: Screensavers Not Working

There may be a simpler solution however:
If you go to "System"->"Administration"->"Synaptic Package Manager" and search for "gnome-screensaver" you can remove the package. Better still you can install xscreensaver (which is another type of screensaver system) instead.
    Good Luck

EDIT: Obviously this will get rid of your screensaver if you don't install xscreensaver.
