Not very much familier with Vista, but might share some thoughts here. I know Vista set up more restriction when you try to share folders on Vista. So, I think it's easier to go another direction, Vista -> Ubuntu.
On Ubuntu, you right click on the folder and share it. Simple as that. It will ask you to install some program called SAMBA, but that's fine.
Remote desktop is easy. You can go to System> Preference> Remote desktop and enable the services. After that, you should be able to RDP to it.
to share files and folders use samba - http://prash-babu.blogspot.com/2008/...-in-linux.html
to remote access you could use vnc -
1)control windows from ubuntu http://prash-babu.blogspot.com/2008/...s-pc-from.html
2)control ubuntu from windows http://prash-babu.blogspot.com/2008/...u-machine.html
man , thanx for the guide on samba...
it works at last!!!
soon i will try out the remote desktop too
it works!! everything.. thanx
next step : can i connect to a remote desktop that s not within my lan??
eg from my work to my home pc
To remote desktop into ubuntu from windows, is there a way to do it over the internet and not LAN?
Thanks in advance
