Free Culture Day @ Shangri-La: Looking for volunteers for Ubuntu-PH

    Greetings fellow Ubuntu lovers!

There will be a Free Culture Day event at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall area on October 1, 2008, Wednesday, from 12 n.n. - 7 p.m. Ubuntu Philippines have been invited to have a boot to demo and present Ubuntu, and maybe even give a short talk about Ubuntu.

EDIT: The date has been moved from October 4 to October 1

We're currently looking for volunteers to man the booth and probably give a talk about Ubuntu. The talk will be schedule at around 4:15 p.m.

Other activities for the day include:

    • Live Mural drawing, Trading Post & Software Demos
    • Introduction of Ubuntu Linux (c/o Ubuntu-PH.org spokesperson)
    • Speech by Teodoro Casino, Bayan Muna Representative - RA #5769 aka "Free and Open Source Bill", September 2006, House Bill #1716, August 2007
    • A short story by Fr. Michael Condes, O. Carm., "LIBRE"
    • Music by Margarita Pantaleon (recording artist)

If anyone is interested, reply to this thread A.S.A.P. (It's quite urgent).

    Thanks!

Sounds fun. Do you have to be an Ubuntu veteran to help out?

Manage a booth, do a demo of Ubuntu in front of a crowd and talk.

I just chatted with the event organizer - they moved it for Oct. 1. I cannot do a talk at this day as I have a scheduled one on the 30th next week and the 2nd of October. Doing back to back talks will strain my throat and voice very badly (it did last month).

I can do those, though I request that if there's a demo PC, Kubuntu should be installed instead, if possible. Kubuntu is more visually appealing, less confusing and I am more familiar with it. Though I used Ubuntu 7.10 before, I am currently using Kubuntu 8.04
