    Mouse sroll wheel - far toooo faaaassstt

    Mice and scroll wheel

    Hi all, I've got a small issue with the scroll wheel on my new wireless M$ mouse.

    System Setup =

    OS =Ubuntu 8.04
    DE = Gnome
    Mouse = M$ wirelss laser 6000
    Browser = Firefox 3.0 (Beta 5)

    The main Prob is the scroll wheel on the mouse is stupidly over sensitive and toooooo fast.
    I managed to get this resolved in XP by going into the intellipoint software setup.

    I've had a quick look in the mouse preferences in Gnome but had no joy
    in finding something specific for the actual mouse wheel.

    I'd rather get this back to a normal speed, than have to sit with my hand on
    the mouse and drag the scroll bar down the side of every page

    (Doesn't help my RSI much at all).

    Any help would be grealty appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Is it just in Firefox or everywhere? If it's everywhere, I'm getting a ms mouse because scrolling in Ubuntu is painfully slow with my logitech...
    If it's Firefox, type about:config in the location bar.
    Type mousewheel.withnokey in the search window. You can (double click and) change the amount of lines it scrolls. Mine is 25. Also try changing the action to 1 or 2 or ??? and see if it's better.

    Cheers NT4usB.

    Its in Nautaliss too.
    I tried your suggestion for Firefox, but it didn't seem to make much difference.

    The annoying thing is, I have RSI and I bought the mouse specifically
    to help with that. (Not the end of the world though)

    I've heard that there's an app called Ubuntu tweak that lets you
    get a lot more control over Gnome. So I think I'll check that out.

    (As a side note, I did a quick google search, and another couple of
    people seem to have the same problem with my mouse =
    M$ natural wireless laser 6000).

    So it might be right up your street

    Anyway thanks for the help mate.
