This works when you copy to an internal disk and use that. But not sure how you can do it with a usb disk. Maybe the guides at pendrives can help you.can i backup one of my installs from one of my other pcs and boot that install on another pc??
I just recommend not trying to INSTALL ubuntu from a 1GB flash drive. It robs about 300MB of your flash drive with invisible space but can easily be formatted back to normal on a windows machine.
