    Proxy checker to produce list with dead proxies removed?

    What is a good Linux/Ubuntu proxy checker? I need it to either remove dead proxies from a list, or save working proxies to a list.

    If you are trying to use proxy to browse...instead of having to meddle with a proxy all the time...why dont you try tor.

    $ sudo apt-get install tor
    this will likely ask about privoxy, just install it as well.

    Then if you use firefox (who doesnt anyway).
    Go look for Foxyproxy addon.

    I just need to check proxies; they are used for some programs I used. Not necessarily just hiding my tracks in general. Well, there's always Virtualbox.

    you can use tor for browsing and in conjunction with the addon tor button it can be turned on and off for faster browsing.
