Question Wireless Internet Slow in Ubuntu

I have Ubuntu 6.10 and connect to the internet via a wireless router.

My PC is a dual boot XP machine.

When I connect via XP i get a 1.4MB connection however when connecting though Ubuntu I only get 140KB.

I have followed the instructions in previous threads regarding disabling IPv6 in both Ubuntu and Firefox and removed IPv6 references in my network settings. I still only connect at 140KB.

I have now run out of ideas ... Please can anyone help?

Same with me. I have a 20MB down 5 MB up connection on Verizon FiOS. With ethernet I get the full speed, but with wi-fi I only get about 1.5MB down 500KB up. I'm running 8.04 LTS.

Same here. 8mB/s down, usually faster. However, with wifi I only get about 1 mB/s or less. Takes a long long (LONG) time to load adobe.com ( to get flash player for my fresh install of Xubuntu ). Also, I usually have to wait several seconds before it even starts to load.
