    Exclamation [SOLVED] Question about BitTorrent

    Hi,everyone.
    I'm downloading something using BitTorrent.
    I'd like to ask this:
If I shut down the pc,will I be able to resume this download when I turn it on again? Is there a setting for this?
    Thank you.

    Re: Question about BitTorrent

I think you should be able to, it may depend on the torrent client you are using. Generally, most torrent clients support that, like Vuse and utorrent. Which client are you using? (again, i think pretty much all of them do)...

    Re: Question about BitTorrent

Yes, transmission can resume easily if you exit the program / shut down / pause while downloading a torrent.

When you turn the computer on again later, open up transmission, and it'll automatically resume downloading it.
    Work smart, not hard.

Yes, you may have to hit the Resume / Play button once you've started up Transmission again. It's easy.

With bitTorrent, you can always resume, even if you didn't start with the same client, or even from bitTorent. Lets say you download a CD image of ubuntu 8.10 the day it comes out, directly from the web site. Chances are with the web server getting hammered that day that your download will be corrupted in some way. Rather than erasing it and starting again, you just find a torrent for the same file (very easy to do with ubuntu distros) and tell it to download to the same place as the messed up image. The bitTorent client will find your file, scan it to make sure it is the right one, (can't have idiots putting up crap) and then only download the few pieces that were messed up the first time around. You go straight to seeding, the time you spent downloading directly is not all wasted, and next time you know to go to bitTorent first.
