I seem to have found a sensible fix. You need to bail on Alsa, and instal OSS4. Here is the guide.https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenSound
This seems to have worked. Is it just me? or does the keyboard have a weird lag as well?
Does it work any better in 9.04?
ASUS X202E - Intel Core i3 1.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Seagate HDD
I wish i could say, i haven't had time to get 9.04 installed, but i would imagine that OSS4 should work. I have read it works in Intrepid too.
I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.
i tried 9.04 since alpha 2 but sound doesnt work out of box.
not jet tried any alsaupdate nor oss
is things work better with 9.04 than the 8.04.
Gonna try Kubuntu 9.04. If things don't work out, I am gonna try Mandriva.

I just did Clay's script in Jaunty and now have 100% sound for the first time! Thanks Clay554!
In ubuntu 9.04 its a simple as just running this in your terminal:
then just do a restart and tada =]Code:sudo echo "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" >> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
this code is part of the install script i made, tho its the only thing you need to get sound working, just tells the bios configuration to automatically search for the sound device rather than specifying a model
When you first dont succeed, google- google again
