I have the ALC889 sound driver, but as i posted here in this thread.
As you can see rev04. if any of you have this very same revision, please pm me or something to tell me anything you did, or what thread/tutorial helped you. Vista x64 pisses me off so much lol.

I seem to have found a sensible fix. You need to bail on Alsa, and instal OSS4. Here is the guide.https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenSound

This seems to have worked. Is it just me? or does the keyboard have a weird lag as well?

I wish i could say, i haven't had time to get 9.04 installed, but i would imagine that OSS4 should work. I have read it works in Intrepid too.
I don't like Microsoft, I associate with it.

Gonna try Kubuntu 9.04. If things don't work out, I am gonna try Mandriva.

    Re: Configuring Acer 6920 Hardware

In ubuntu 9.04 its a simple as just running this in your terminal:
    Code:
    sudo echo "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" >> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
then just do a restart and tada =]

this code is part of the install script i made, tho its the only thing you need to get sound working, just tells the bios configuration to automatically search for the sound device rather than specifying a model
When you first dont succeed, google- google again
