Can I make the internal speaker beep when the network cable get unplugged?

    Hey,
I have a server running Ubuntu, and I was wondering if I could make it so the internal motherboard speaker gives a 3-second beep if the network connection is somehow interrupted, eg if the cable is unplugged or the router gets switched off.

    Motherboard: ASUS A7A266.
Network card: D-Link 10/100/1000 card. Don't have exact model at hand.

    Thanks

Scroll down to the part that says Configure ifplugd, I think it might be a good place to start and maybe even finish.

100 buckets of bits on the bus,
    100 buckets of bits,
Take one down, short it to ground,
FF buckets of bits on the bus.
