Running Ubuntu 11.04
I used Vista for more than 6 months that came along with my laptop. Then I moved to ubuntu, and using it for past 6 months.
I found ubuntu far more user friendly, beautiful, easy to fix (surprisingly i never had serious problems with ubuntu!), easy to install hardware and software, watch TV, play music, surf the net, get help and always make laugh at Windows!
The best things I found with ubuntu are.. it satisfies me in getting my work done faster, make me enjoy using it and it is really beautiful. It was never like this with Vista.
Here is my comment-reply to the 40 reasons:
Alex Zaharov-Reutt:
shows the reasons why? you wrote about your experience. it is an opinion.Linux lovers can believe I'm just trolling, but I prefer Vista, and this article shows the reasons why!
I've tried Ubuntu and other Linux flavours, Mac OS X and many other OS's... including all the earlier Windows ones. Vista is the best so far.
Give me a call when Linux has more users than Vista. Heck, give me a call when Mac OS X has more users than Vista...
having more users in this case is not a good thing. most people don't even know they have a choice. that's sad, really. the average person using windows is left with a slow, virus infected, dog slow POS OS after only 1 year of using it. believe me, i know, as i fix computers for a living.
i'll admit that windows is better suited for certain businesses and is hands down better with games, but i consider myself a power user and linux does everything i need to do with rock solid stability.
most people do what on their computer? surf/check email/word documents. it's criminal that people are basically being forced into using windows for basic stuff. linux is much better suited for the average person. no virus's, no maintenance, no worries. and you don't need to upgrade your hardware with linux in order to get a full featured OS. a computer can last for many years running linux and run fast too.
linux is also making low spec netbook and umpc possible. sub-notebooks are the fastest growing segment in computing right now. linux will clearly lead the way here.
use whatever OS you like, but your 40 reasons don't hold any weight with me. i fix windows pc's for a living, i know all about them. i'm not missing a thing. microsoft? you can keep it.
Ok, let me be the first to agree with Point #15:. I have Vista SP1 and Ubuntu 8.04.1 side by side (dual-booting), and Vista give me 6H32min on my Acer Travelmate 9292; whereas Ubuntu only 3H46min, both from cold boot. The depth of controlling power management in Vista is so much better. I have also tested this in Mandriva 2008.1 and Mint 5, all yield the same power output on battery life. Vista in powersave or customized mode out-performs Linux powersave function.15. Vista has the best power management.

More versions than this? http://distrowatch.com/29. Vista has the most versions, although this isn’t a plus, Microsoft!

Guys, read it again, read all of it.
Many of the points are "tongue in cheek", he is not some rabid windows fan boy, it is just a funny response to someone else's ditch windows and upgrade to Linux article.
A few reasons to drop computers altogether:
1. Go outside and meet people
2. Live a life not behind a monitor
3. Get laid
But I'm an exception because I'm paralyzed from the neck down and using the Linux computer to live my last days.
