The script didn't seem to work for me on a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 x64 after package updates from update manager so I did a lot of it manually. What I can't figure out is how to change the Ubuntu menu icon to Apple's and where are those icons located?

Also the Usplash themes aren't working, as it shows verbose mode on startup (using StartUp-Manager)

    1) Can you post what error messages you see?

    2) This may help: https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum....orum_id=730185

    3) The usplashes are broken as of now and I still hafn't found time to work on them.

I'm not sure how I can get the error messages from logs but this is what I did:

Once you've extracted it open a Terminal and navigate to the location you
extracted it to, i.e. cd ~/Desktop/Mac4Lin_v1.0 if you saved and extracted
the file to your Desktop. The you need to run the install script by running
    ./Mac4Lin_Install_v1.0.sh.

And there were a few errors saying files not found.

    Thanks for the help.

You can run the script again, it won't do any harm and you can just copy-paste the error messages from the terminal window.

Ok all seems to be working now after running the script again except this:

    Installing Mac4Lin Emerald Window Borders...
    [: 62: missing ]
    Done!

I'm probably missing some package though beforehand? I do have emerald theme manager installed.

It is weird that it works now after I did everything manually but did not work on a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04 x64.

Thats really strange. It shouldn't haf failed the first time. My guess its that you ran the install script as a superuser before.

Also with respect to the Emerald error: Do you use Emerald as your window manager? Can you correctly see Mac4Lin window borders?

Hint: If you run the entire script as superuser (sudo), it will install the configuration files in your home directory as root. You'll need to go to those directories as superuser and chown them back to your normal username.

I found that the right way to install everything is to run as yourself, the script will invoke sudo where needed. At that point, the script will stop and ask for the root password.

Did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 x64 again to see if I could reproduce the error and I did:

    sean@sean-laptop ~ $ cd ~/Desktop/Mac4Lin_Install_v1.0
    sean@sean-laptop ~/Desktop/Mac4Lin_Install_v1.0 $ ./Mac4Lin_Install_v1.0.sh

None of the UI got enabled except the logon screen. As far as I'm aware I'm not running as a superuser. I'm pretty sure this relates to what geekgirl said but I'm not sure how to run as myself. Please bare with me as I'm new to Linux

Looks like the 3 basic directories are missing! Try doing this:

    1) mkdir ~/.themes
    2) mkdir ~/.icons
    3) mkdir ~/.emerald

And then try to run the script again.
