need help with ipod nano and FFmpeg

hi just installed floola wich is a great substitute for itunes. now i want to add some videos to my ipod but floola says:

    # FFmpeg executable has to be installed under /usr/local/bin. It has to be manually compiled with at least aac and h264 plugins. Linux users should refer to their distribution support forum (or google) for more information about how to manually build ffmpeg with these plugins.

so how do i do this? i would not mind to install some other handy plugins as well. please i need help (im using gutsy)

ok i have installed ffmpeg through synaptic so i can at least open the download menu in floola and download for example a youtube clip but i get an error when converting. i think it is because i dont have the two plugins mentioned above h264 and aac. how can i manually compile ffmpeg with these plugins??and maybe manually compile with some other good plugins as well
