Can't enable desktop effects on 2nd user account

I've tried the Compiz fusion icon and still no go. I can open the settings manager and change things and all of that, but none of it works. Whenever i try to enable the extra visual effects it says that it can't.

Are you using fast user switching or are you logging out of one account and then back into the other?

fast switching. but i just tried logging out and into the other account and get the same problem.

A friend of mine (a new Ubuntu user) has the same problem. The first user to log in gets desktop effects.

This is very annoying, of course, since they both use Docky (which does not work without compositing)

You should start a new thread instead of resurrecting an old one.

Hmm, I thought people preferred to not start a new thread, as long as another one concerning the same thing is still "loose"

It has been 4 months since the last post, so it it preferable to start a new than bringing back a dead one. You will have a greater chance of getting help with a new thread.
