    hardlocks in gui

    64bit intrepid: both gdm and kdm(3.5* version) is hardlocking after nvidia 177 install and subsequent removal in rescue shell.

    and its happening both in the 2.6.26 and 2.6.27 kernel

    gdm totaly locks upp just shows the brown screan whit a round clock like mouse pointer thats totaly frozen. ctrl alt delete dosent work.

    kdm gets as far as login screen but its frozen no keeboard or mouse input.
    i have purged all nvidia packages.

    if it has any relvance i have kde3*packages from hardy installed from clean env. then pinned down and the removed hardy repos.


    tried reconfigure -all but no luck.

    motherboard is a msi p35 neo
    8gb ram in 4 mathced stics.

    msi nx8400gs graphics card.

    monitor is a 20 ich lg L204WT contected by both d-sub and and dvi
