partition detection
Hi everyone, before i start i apologize for my poor english.
Im quiet expirienced with linux, im an archlinux user, now im giving my laptop to my father so i decided to install ubuntu in order to make his life easier, the thing is that im not really used to the "ubuntu way". I installed ubuntu in a 10 gb partition, and now ( that i free some space ) I want to move /home into an other partition, preferently jfs. I made the partition but ubuntu is not doing its automagic stuf. So, as an experiment, mounted manually /dev/sda2 in /home/myhome/someemptyfolder with auto, defaults, users,rw but I cant write anything on it. Whats more, there are some files like music and stuff that i have from my old installation ( but yes its container folder tree ), I chown and chmod them but I am not able to see most of them with nautilus or ls, mc, etc. But root can... In fact now im playing some files with mplayer from a root console... I check users groups and so, but i didnt find anything as "storage" or similar.... Im used to do things manually, old school, but ubuntu doesnt like that. As it happend with firefox that doesnt conect if i set the wireless config manually ( but i got ping!) im force to use gui's that i dont like. I have no idea how i can fix this partition problem, and i have to let everything working nicely for next week. Some idea? Thanks Last edited by Oelopez; September 7th, 2008 at 05:36 PM.. |
