Virtualbox and sharing files still not working

ok i got virualbox running on ubuntu meaning ubuntu is the host os i have instill win-xp using virualbox. i am trying to get win-xp to share my files i have on ubuntu i instill the guest actions mod yet i can still not see the folders in win-xp. i only need to be able to do this as sometimes i have to use windows for some work i need to do. the rest of the time i am all ubuntu. s i trying to get my ubuntu document folder to show up in win-xp need both read and write to this folder

turn the vm off, edit its settings, setup a shared folder there.

turn of the vm what is that i tryed to add files all ready done my ubuntu document and made a shared files folder in the home folder but i still can not see them??

did you set a folder to be shared in the VM settings?

yes setting then shared folder and add the ons i want to share

I know I'm a bit late on this but you have to install the guest additions accordingly to the version of virtualbox you have, without the guest additions you cannot map a drive/folder with linux.

i think i done that because when i was running the guest os i click on device guest additions and then mounted the iso file it download and instill it on xp is that right ?
