Force Version Reverting to Most Recent Version

I am rather displeased with the most recently Java 5 update. I want 1.5_13, as everything was working on my old system with this version.

If I go into Synaptics and Choose force version and pick the one I want, it goes back to 1.5_15 within seconds. How can I make this stop?

I'm not sure why the force isn't working for you. Honestly, though, you're usually much better off using the latest java version. What errors is it giving you. What about the Java 6 version?

I actually found out that the reason something wasnt working on my new 8.04 laptop was not because I had a new Java version. The app was not showing up correctly because of compiz visual effects. It seems some Java apps like pcAnywhere don't like them turned on.
