Wink Ubuntu Magazine 8.04 here in U.S.

    Hey,
I'm wondering if anyone has seen the new Ubuntu 8.04 Magazine on the News Stands?

I happened to be in Barnes/Noble yesterday (one in a million times I go in a Bookstore) and saw Ubuntu 8.04 on the Magazine Rack.

I flipped through it, seemed like it had some good content (especially the "suggested download links").

Does anyone have a copy of those links?

I didn't buy the Magazine because
    a-it's U.S. $14.99 which is EXPENSIVE (for a 40 page magazine).
b-I was buying $80-worth of other Magazines (long story)--and did not want to spend $15...on "one more"...
c-I'm FAR from being a cheap **stard, but that's a lot for a 40-page magazine.

It had GREAT content and curious if it's available online (like Wired.com).

    Thanks
P.S.---I might go back and buy it just for "prosperity", because 10-years from now when Ubuntu rules the UNIVERSE, I'll have the Issue One Volume One copy of it's Magazine--- to sell on E-Bay.

(wish I would have saved all my copies of "Industry Standard"...(*frown*).
Trying to kick the MSFT habit.
Looking forward to discovering the world of Xubuntu.

    Never heard of it.

I doubt it's an official magazine.

I agree...."I think it is unofficial" If it was official, then may be it would be announced in the ubuntu.com and canonical website

I'm pretty sure I saw this about a month ago a Borders. For $15 you're getting 40 pages and the CD (which I think ultimately it's a vehicle to sell a freely available download). I wouldn't pay for it, but I'm sure somebody would.
Why can't life have a sudo apt-get install -f command?
Install VMWare Server 2 on a text-only system
Need help getting your printer working in Linux?
It's all about choice, right? Then stop flaming Windows users.

What was the magazine called? I haven't seen it either, but I have seen Linux Magazine that has a bunch of Ubuntu distros on one dvd.

I believe the one he is talking about is done by Linuxidentity.com. The magazine is slightly less than 40 pages which includes a DVD with Ubuntu distros in it. You see it here. I do have it but I borrowed it from a friend. Not sure if I'd pay $15 for it but it does have some useful info for the beginner.

There is also the occasional one that Linux Format puts out as well like they do with several other distros.

This is produced by an independent company that does the same for other distros. They all include the CD and then around 40 pages of info. They advertise alot on Distrowatch. Right now they are pushing the FreeBSD mag but you can click on it for other editions. They have a Deb, Suse, and Fedora one also.
