    Logging Out Without My Permission

My laptop has done this twice in past 24 hours. I left it on while I went to work cuz I like Azureus to keep downloading while I'm gone, and when I got back, I was at the login screen. It had somehow logged itself out on its own. And last night I left it running for the same reason, and when I got up this morning, login screen. It didn't start doing it till yesterday, and I've been running Hardy Heron for months.

Drop to a terminal and run 'uptime'.

Sounds like the machine might be rebooting...

    14:36:39 up 11:31, 2 users, load average: 0.44, 0.19, 0.13

that's what it says from uptime

should it say 2 users? cuz i'm the only one using the computer

That's fine, it probably means you're logged in twice. It's fairly common. You can check it though by running 'users' from the terminal.

The uptime though, says the machine has only been up for 11 hours. That means it's rebooting. If it had been up for more than a day it would say "up x days" rather than 11:31. Have you ever had it randomly reboot?

No it's never rebooted on its own before. This is the first time it's done anything on its own. It seems to be fine now though. I left for work 12 hours ago, and just got back, and it's still logged in. Hopefully this was just a one time thing.

It could have been a couple of power flickers as well.

Same problem over here! - Using 8.04.

    - I have just recently started having this Problem. I left my system up all night for Downloading and When I woke up in the morning.. Saw the Login screen. This has happened 3 times in a row now..

It more seems like a Power Management Issue to me... Helpeee!
