    Increase System Efficiency.

Hi , I just bought 2 GB more DDR2 RAM and so my system conf looks like this now :

    AMD ATHLON X2 3800+ (64 Bit)
    3 GB RAM
    250 X 2 SATA HD
    GeForce 7300 GT (512 MB)
    ASUS M2N4-SLI MotherBoard

    Hardy Heron 32 Bit

I want to know how i could increase program responsiveness..I mean when i click firefox/vlc , they should open instantly. And any other tricks/tips for speeding up the overall performance.I already followed these guides :

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=565651

    Plus i made vm.swappiness=0.
    and i have Preload Installed.
    Any other suggestions ? Thanks!

    Re: Increase System Efficiency.

untrue, the only thing that could let 64bit down is the fact you must use the 32bit Flash plugin for firefox, for me this isnt a problem and it runs all websites fine with the default Flash 9, even some websites that wont run on a 32-bit install with Flash 10.

Any native 64-bit application is going to outperform the equivelant 32-bit app, and now that most applications (I cant think of one that isnt right now) are 64-bit you can see this would be an advantage.

Heres a link to the 64-bit user group if you do decide to take the plunge
