Thumbs down Why do you use Windows, if at all?

The only reason I'm using Windows is because of school and my girlfriend.

School is giving me DRM-laced downloads that are tied to Windows only . And girlfriend needs wireless and webcam for when we talk online. (Long distance relationship)

I'm using Ubuntu Linux for everything else, from writing to syncing my Creative Zen and more.

    How about you?
Don't pirate Windows, 'pirate' Ubuntu Linux. It's faster, and more secure for free!
Ask me about legally free music

Motorola phone tools, bios/firmware updates, and a couple of games that still won't run under wine.

Use windows for everythin because anything later than Ubuntu 5.10 will not load on my laptop despite all the advice I've been given.

Lowsky, That was my 1st post on THIS forum and I also have friends and colleagues that run various Linux systems, this forum is not the only font of knowledge.
Ubuntu Installs don't get further than "saving VESA started". Others (Blag, Fedora, Suse11, Puppy, Knoppix, Mepis....) all install fine but have issues with wi-fi and sound card recognition.
I'm trying to install on a Packard Bell Easynote F5280HR. A dog of a machine but perfectly useable.

I still dual boot with vista to test the art website I am building. Do not forget that most peoples still use some version of the low quality system that come bundled when you buy a computer.
Internet Explorer has an incredible number of bugs and even code that works perfectly with opera and firefox on ubuntu can still have problems with explorer 6 or 7. By the way I am not very admirative of konqueror 3.5, though fast this browser is still difficult and buggy to program if your doing a complex javascript image galery.
I do use ubuntu most of the time because I need a solid and simple system. I can do most things with less clicks on ubuntu.

3 years free from windows in our house.

Though I do have to use Leopard for easy organisation/synching of my contacts & audio books on the iPod touch & to use my recently acquired Sandvox wysiwyg web creation software (as there was no suitable alternative available for Arch )

So, necessity does it to us doesn't it?
