Ubuntu Server, partitioning problem

hi guys, im hoping i can get some help with this, i was installing ubuntu server to my hard drive, the partitioning stage came up, and i told it to use the entire disk, after stopping at a percentage, and stayed there for a while, i got a red screen and the following error message
"Creating ext file system for / in partition #1 of SC512 (0,0,0) (SDA)"

im hoping i can get some help with this as i do not know what to do next
