install ubuntu via damn small linux?

    Hello all,

I'm having problems installing ubuntu. However damn small linux (dsl) boots quite nicely. If I install it to hard drive, could I then use it to install ubuntu?

    Any ideas? Thanks

I tried installing Ubuntu via another distro last spring, but the debootstrap utility was so buggy that I never made it to work. I used Google and found that others were having same problems, too. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what problems there were.

However, it should be possible to do that. The keywords (eg. for googling) are "debootstrap" and "chroot".

Considered a PXE install (if you have a 2nd pc available)?, after having tons of problems with other attempts at installing on my laptop I figured out how to do a PXEBOOT. Was amazingly simple once I actually took the time to read the steps. I used my XP desktop as the host and ran the process flawlessly.

It hangs during the install process.

The system has 128mb ram. I've been informed that this is not enough to run ubuntu. Is this true?

I'm trying to install ubuntu server.

    thanks again!
