adding RAM to iBook G3 500 MHz

Hi. I just received back my dinobook G3 500MHz (the one I started using ubuntu in). To summarize, needs recasing urgent (got a mini-itx one handy), LCD panel and trackpad dead as a doornail, HD on it´s way out. Specs all retail. I took it apart and I´m about to put it back together as a mini desktop, but I wanted to know. Will it take a PC2-5300 RAM stick (one of the 512MB ones left after taking my toshiba lappy from 1GB to 1.5GB)?

I am going to say no. The clock speed will be way different if it even fits in the slot at all.

Those iBooks use older SD-RAM, which is much different than that stick of DDR2 RAM that you have.

If you wanted to put more RAM in, you could do two sticks of PC-100:

You could probably find some on eBay for really cheap. You'd want PC-100 (speed) SO-DIMMS (physical size).

    EDIT: Here's an eBay search:
