Unable to output to S-Video on laptop

I have an Acer Travelmate 2480 and I would like to output video signal via S-Video, but it does not work on this machine. I have tried toggling the [Fn]+[F5] keys to try to toggle the output to the TV screen. My TV instructions say that the S-Video is on AV-2, but I have tried both AV-1 and AV-2 with no results.

I am operating with Ubuntu 8.04LTS, and I have 2 GB RAM, and 80GB HD. The CPU is a Celeron M 410 1.46MHz.
Using POP!_OS 20.04, which is basically Ubuntu 20.04 with some help from System76.

Re: Unable to output to S-Video on laptop

I have an Acer aspire 5520 and a few months ago I looked into this with mine and found that it took customizing the xorg.conf file and when I tried some suggestions in other threads the best I got was an either or and I wanted cloned mode and it just didn't work right. So I just gave up since I have XP on mine in a dual boot setup and if I needed to throw video to a TV then I can just use that. I think there is supposed to be a way to enable it now without modding the xorg.conf yourself but have a look at the threads below to find out what you might need to try.

Here are some links to look at.

Hope this helps you get what you need.
