[SOLVED] gstreamer (ugly) video apps are slow motion

I'm having a strange multimedia dilemma
Opening any movie file with movie player is making the video play in super slow motion (and the seconds elapsed by the time slider doesn't change at all). VLC will play the files at regular speed, but neither have sound. Same with any audio files (pandora radio on firefox is working fine though). It's pretty odd.
Has this happened to anyone else?

The problem has resolved itself. I tried running the videos about 2 hours later and for some reason they played at regular speed (and music apps worked again). The slider on movie player is still a little sketchy but that's ok.
