    hi,
i am using ubuntu 8.04 on my vaio sz laptop.
i want to use an external monitor connected via the laptop's vga port.

how do i tell ubuntu to switch the view from the laptop screen to the external one?

Hi and welcome, you can try and use the command
    Code:
    gksu displayconfig-gtk
using the alt, F2 keys. There you can add and adjust your external monitor.

    thanks!
it works with the laptop's vga port.
however, when i am using the docking station i can't seem to operate the dvi port.
do you have any idea why?
