    [SOLVED] GeForce mx200 (hardy)

i have installed Xubuntu 8.04.1 on a friends old P3 (Coppermine Proc 256mb), and cant get the GeForce mx200 to work properly (stuck at >640*480).

Have tried suggestions from the community database as recommended by https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Fi...esolutionHowto

The Nvidia-glx driver is supposed to be the correct driver have tried envy and the legacy driver and trashed my xorg.conf a few times after following a few thread suggestions.

following is the xorg.conf after I could at least change the horiz and vert refresh.
    "Code:# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Re: GeForce mx200 (hardy)

After much fiddling (sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, reboots and so forth) I have managed to fluke the correct resolution with the vesa drivers
    code:# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using
    # values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode.
    #
    # You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf
    # For example:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
    Driver "kbd"
    Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
