I bring news of the death of this thread. It has been foretold by a possessed dmesg.
It will end on the May 7, 2013, deleted by admin staff as the post count could not be expressed as an unsigned integer.

700 pages, that's enough.
Lets kill this thread with some politics
OK
I've been thinking about a new political system. The old systems all have problems. The kingdoms fell or became democracies, emperors fell, dictators fell, in Belgium, we haven't got a government for more than a year (it's a world record btw). So there is something wrong.
All those ways of governing have one common factor: They are limited in surface but not limited in function. So they decide over everyone, going from butchers to engeneers, but only on a small surface.
This is something that dates from long ago, when communication was slow and therefore limited in surface.
What should happen if we turn that around? Make a government for engineers that has rights world-wide, make a government for IT ...
This way, we could introduce a meritocratic system (since the government decides only over one part of society, you can make metrics). This would stimulate sharing (which also has to be integrated in the metric) and efficient working.
People could "fork" from their government, just like countries are split now. There is no possibility of war since each government needs all others. and governing will be a lot more efficient.
This does mean that there is no place for things like wall street. It's completely insane that people get money for doing nothing.
Now, the only problem I see is that I don't know how we could evolve to such a system.
There, if that doesn't kill this thread, I don't know it anymore
That's nothing. The Tug of war - Community vs Mods - to 200 (or -200) thread is at 1,316 pages!
