Exclamation OpenOffice.org 3.0 Intrepid Ibex debs

I wanted to mention that if anyone is interested in testing out the OpenOffice.org 3.0 test debs they are located at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive.

If you decide to file a bug please file them using the Help->Report a bug, so that the full apport details are included.

The 3.0 release candidate is currently scheduled for release on Aug 25, if it is released on time I should have it around that date.

Thanks,

Chris (calc)

Re: OpenOffice.org 3.0 Intrepid Ibex debs

It looks like /usr/bin

If you open the debs in the package installer and click on included files you can see where they will be installed

In /usr/bin it replaces the 2.4.1 packaging in Intrepid. The only reason they aren't in Intrepid directly is because I haven't determined if 3.0 will be released in time to make it into Intrepid. If they keep to the Aug 25 RC1 release schedule then 3.0 should be released by Oct 6 at the latest (hopefully) which means we should be able to get it in.

Thats strange as when I fire up OOO it still says 2.4 & I thought that it would remove the old version.

Hi all,
I had installed Openoffice 3.0 beta using this guide http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/0...eta-in-ubuntu/

now how do I uninstall it so I can use the launchpad archive?

Ah I forgot to replace the splash screen, that is just a cosmetic bug. If you go to the about box it should show the correct version. The graphic there will probably show 2.4 as well, but below that it should show the right version number.

First make sure the

dpkg -l | grep (EXACT package version number) | cut -f 3 -d " "

command returns only OpenOffice.org related packages or it might remove some packages you want to keep.

Then run the following command and it should purge all the packages.

dpkg -l | grep (EXACT package version number) | cut -f 3 -d " " | xargs dpkg --purge

If extra packages were returned in the first step then manually purge each OpenOffice.org package by doing:

dpkg --purge (package name)

Re: OpenOffice.org 3.0 Intrepid Ibex debs

Hi,

I can't open more than one file/OOo application simultaneously

I was using the same build (debs from http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/) and this didn't happen.

Anyone with the same problem?
