cannot load my sims 3

i recently had to put Ubuntu on my laptop as windows has stopped working,
the problem i am having is every time i put my sims 3 disc into my laptop it wont load up.
i am extremely grateful if someone could please help me

What do you mean by "won't load up"? If the disc isn't being detected, then you've probably got a faulty DVD drive. Open the file manager at the top of the unity bar and try and open the disc from there.
If you CAN see the disc, then you can try running the setup executable through wine. If you haven't done so already, open the software center and install the program called "wine". Once you've done that, go to the file manager and right click the setup, open with - wine windows program loader.
Please keep in mind that sims 3 does not officially support linux. You should always check the compatibility of programs you want to use.

Is it a Windows game/disk? Unless it specifically says 'Linux compatible' or something like it, that is not going to run natively in Linux. You could try installing Wine which allows you to use some, but not all, Windows programs.

1. Install PlayOnLinux. It's available in the Ubuntu Software Center.
2. Use PlayOnLinux to install Sims3 to your computer. It has a built-in script specifically for Sims 3.
