    Exclamation Why?!

For some reason, I cannot get Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Desktop to boot on my iMac G3 Summer 2001. I read that it is compatible, and it just sits at a blinking folder. , any help please.

G3 iMacs need a lot of tlc to get working. Be sure to see this:

    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCKnownIssues

Here are some tips to speed up the process:

    Gather specs for your machine:
How much ram do you have?

Is the hard-drive oem, or a larger replacement?

Is the motherboard battery dead or about to go?

Are you comfortable with editing files from the
commandline, and/or going into rescue mode and having to use only vi to edit the files?

What are you going to use your G3 for - do you have enough horsepower to make the system usable after install?

Check out the G3 iMac threads for tips about this both here and in the read-only archives to see if it is something you want to tackle.

Just want to let you know so that it doesn't turn into a one-off install that might not be worth it in the end.
