Yes, SiS chipsets is a real crap. No matter it's in XP or UBUNTU the idle power consumption is no less than 23W even everything is off. There's been rumour that the SiSM671/672(DX) are actually desktop chipset SiS671/672(DX) by just adding an "M" for pretending to be a mobile chipsets. Thier mobile chipsets are notorious so they quit the market right after these products.

There is no 3D driver, but for 9.04 x64 there is a driver - look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...&postcount=167

    Hi,

thanks for the hint about the 9.04 x64 drivers. I'll immediately add it to my wiki as I got some requests about x64 drivers lately.

    Best,
    Dennis

Hi, according to this link http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...&postcount=167
    it should be
    Code:
    Driver "sis671"
But in your wiki it is
    Code:

    Driver "sis"
    Thanks for your helpful wiki!

Do you have a working AIGLX? How did you manage it?

I've installed xorg-driver-sis671 deb from above, except for 3D accel, it seems to be working fine in my acer aspire 3000. But it's missing sis315_dri.so, the drm stuff...

Can anysoul explain why Satux driver called "3D" if there is no DRI working? What about writing to http://www.softwarefreedom.org about GPL violation from SiS?
