    Best linux distro without gui?

    Hey everyone,

i got a question concerning which distro i have to take to fit my needs. I wanna have a distro which has enough support for notebooks (and in specific wireless cards), like ubuntu has, but that without a gui. I wanna install a clean kde4 without having to remove any other gui first. Somebody has any suggestions?

    thanks in advance!!

The ubuntu alternate cd gives you the option to install a command-line system. Just press F4 when it gives you the installation menu and choose to install a command-line system.
    Be Safe. Use Linux.
Double your drive space. Delete Windows.

You can install a command line system with the Kubuntu/Xubuntu/Ubuntu Alternate CD.
Boot from the Alternate CD and choose "Install a command-line system."

I don't quite understand why you want to first install the system without gui and then add KDE4 to it.

You could install KDE4 directly with openSUSE, there no need to install any other GUI before that. Also Fedora 9 and Mandriva 2008 can install KDE4. And I suppose also Kubuntu has nowadays KDE4. There is no point in doing a console only installation of Ubuntu just to be able to add KDE4 to it...

    Greetings,

If you want a complete Kubuntu with kde4, without having kde3, just get yourself a kubuntu-kde4 cd from here.

Is this with the latest KDE 4.1?

As far as I can understand from kubuntu.org, the kubuntu-kde4 cd is kde 4.0, but there is a way to upgrade to 4.1.

I think it's KDE4... KDE4.1 is to be downloaded through the ppa repos.
