    System unresponsive during normal usage/installation

I have been using Ubuntu on my HP pavilion DV1331 SE laptop. With the latest version of Ubuntu 8.04, the system becomes non-responsive (hangs) while I am using it and its not like the system is heavily used.. just regular home usage... browsing, im, some simple graphics.
It was not a problem with earlier versions of ubuntu. One thing I have seen when this happens, the hard disk light is ON all the time. So, I am guessing it has to do something with ubuntu trying to use the hard drive. Is this a known problem - hardware issue? Or any of the ubuntu drivers not being compatible?

If it were me I would just try a re-installation and see if this cures the problems.

Personally, I do not put a whole lot of trust in 8.04 yet.

If it were me I would move back to 7.10.

    Good luck.
