I have just given my 11 yr old son his first computer. It is a Dell GX110 with a P3 933 ghz cpu and 512 mb of PC100 memory. I would like to install Edubuntu on it but not sure which version. Any suggestions??
Thanks!

I would recommend ubuntu christian edition. If you are concerned what you son is viewing on the internet. It has built in filters to keep away adult content. It looks like they might discontinue ubuntu CE but you can still download it so far as I know.

Or if you just want to have the filter you can get it from here.

Sorry I didn't realize that edubuntu has a filter built in. It's been a long time since I was in a classroom.

Edubuntu is probably a good choice, though I have never used it.

Edubuntu is good and should fairly well on your computer. Having said that, you need to be aware that Edubuntu is designed for Teachers to use in the classroom. It may not be what you want/need for the home setting.
If you decide on a regular desktop, Xubuntu will work really well on your computer. Since it uses Gnome as the desktop environment, there are some HOWTO's and programs that you can use to restrict your son's abilities to make changes on the computer.
For internet monitoring theres Dansguardian found in the repos.
