Is there any way to record a BBCiPlayer stream?

Video; I don't think so.

Audio; theoretically yes but I've never managed it. You are supposed to be able to do it with mplayer/mencoder but it never works for me. Do a search on recording a realplayer stream and you may get some clues.

It is possible to do it with audacity, however, though the quality is not too good.

Yes you could try screen grabbing the desktop with record my desktop, heres why you will jhave to wait a while beofre this is changed

Last time I used it, it worked...not sure whether the bbc counters things like this though?

It takes a little bit of setting up, it uses ruby and rubygems, but the installation instructions are more than ample

Edit: I can confirm it still works...
