Can't purge, and can't reinstall dansguardian - help!

I don't need dansguardian anymore, but somehow the package broke, and I can't remove it:

$ sudo apt-get remove --purge dansguardian

This may help with your prblem. Go to System-->Administration-->Synaptic Package Manager-->Edit-->Fix broken packages.

I'm having the same issue, doesn't matter what I try to install or remove or upgrade, nothing shows up in broken packages.

whenever i try to install anything via apt-get or aptitude or the package manager i get something along the lines of...
