put in the liveCD and hit alt-F2 and run:Then just reformat as you wish. Make sure to backup any important data since it will be gone after you reformat.Code:gksudo gparted
Desktop: Q6600 OC: 343 x 9, 4 GB RAM, 8600 GTS Twinview (22",17"), 1.5 TB RAID 5
Laptop: Lenovo T61 T7300 @ 2 GHz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 140M Quadro, 160 GB harddrive

Or you can just reinstall it. Reinstallation formats all the disks you tell it to use.

I don't think you need to use gksudo if when running the LiveCD. Look for the Partition Editor in System->Administration
There is no system but GNU and Linux is one of its kernels.

What are you trying to reformat, and for what purpose? Secondary harddrive? A live environment should be able to do that... but to reinstall Ubuntu... just install it again =/
