Trying to get Call of Duty 4 working on 64-bit
I am well aware that this thread has been done before. I have tried every tutorial I have found searching this forum as well as google.
The main problem I am having is that most of the tutorials are for 32-bit. Then at the beginning, most of them say 'on 64-bit Ubuntu you'll have to do some other stuff, here are some links'. Then a link or two is given to sites with large amounts of information regarding a lot of specific issues to sift through. There is never an order specified for when to do the things mentioned in the links, or which things are relevant.
I've seen that it's necessary to compile Wine manually, and I've seen that it's not. I have no idea which tutorials to follow.
The most promising one I have seen is ahaslam's here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=641987
He links 64-bit users to http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit#h...158321229216de but I don't know what to do with that information. A lot of what I've read seems very version-specific to Wine, so I don't know if I have the right version to follow the tutorials. I have whichever version is in the repos right now.
I have never used Wine before, but I am not new to Linux.
Can anybody post a straightforward 64-bit tutorial? Even if it's just ahaslam's copied and pasted with the 64-bit steps added in rather than being linked to.
