    Problems to zoom in/out

I need to activate the visual effects to zoom in / out, but it won't let me do that. It says Desktop effects can't be enabled.
Any other ways to zoom in and out on the screen?
That effect is something i miss the old version 7.

    Please help.
    Thanks.

Do you need it for all applications or just for the web?

In Firefox, Control+ (numeric pad) zooms in, Control- zooms out, and Control 0 returns to normal view.

    I know but thanks,
I need it for all applications. I need something like the zoom function in version 7 when I could zoom in to a part of the screen and move the mouse to get the rest. That was a fast and easy zoom method, so I can't understand why ubuntu didn't include that function in version 8.
