    Disabling redundant integrated video card

Hi, my system is running like a slug. The most obvious source of trouble could be the fact that I have an on-board video card that I am not using. The card I am using isn't that great itself (Its a PCI version of the ati radeon 9100)

Could this be taking up resources and causing things to run poorly?

Is there a way I can just disable the card completely?

    Thanks

You have to do this from the BIOS when you're computer's booting.

Have you checked in your pc's bios? Should be a place there to disable it. Watch when your pc boots, there should be a bios screen that will give you the key combination to enter bios setup (delete, F2, F12, etc).
Bios page hint: "Onboard" or Integrated".

Ok - Thanks so much for your replies. I've disabled the integrated video within the bios now.

Ubuntu still lists this device in the "screen and graphics preferences" utility, however, and everything is still running upsettingly slow.

If I press the test button in this console, the hardware fails.
