    Gmome equivalent of "Splitview"

There is an excellent little tool for Windows XP called Splitview (see http://www.splitview.com) that adds toolbar buttons maximize to left/right sides of screen. This is most excellent when using large 24" widescreen displays.

I have this at work and it is invaluable; my Gnome desktop at home now feels distinctly lacking

It allows "maximizimg" to the left/right/top/bottom halves of the screen or into the four quarters of the screen using hotkeys. It really is one of those tools that you will wonder how you did without it.

So, is there an equivalent for Gnome ?

    Thanks!

I typed up a little howto here. Thanks to Stephen (steve9000) for coding this. I think you will find this does what you want.
