How to play streaming videos

How can I get ubuntu to play you tube videos? I also cannot play the videos on Fox news or the Weather Channel. What do I need to do?

run 'sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree' in terminal to install a flash plugins
It still crashes now and then, though.

I did what u suggested and I still cannot play any of YOu Tube or other streaming videos like FoxNews, etc

Mine works just fine.
Enter aboutlugins in the address bar if you are using firefox.

Otherwise it should all be fine
When you opened youtube? didn't firefox even ask you for a missing plugin?

when i opened you tube in firefox and click on video to play, the video area box opens but no video begins to play. It just shows a square blank.
The same occurs with Fox news videos. I did get the weather channel video to play.

do you have all current updates in your machine?
what version of Firefox do you have?

Firefox 3.0.1 as far as I know all updates have been applied

I checked the plugins in firefox and I have many different plugins installed including flash

try uninstalling all other flash plugins so that the one from Adobe remains the only one standing
