Question HELP customizing desktop on Ubuntu live CD

I've been tweaking the live CD (Ubuntu 8.04) for use by kids
    (i.e., install removed).
However, there are still the 'examples' folder
and the 'install' shortcut on the desktop after boot.

    HOW do they get there?
Can they be removed (from the CD)?

    Thanks in advance

I don't see how they'd be removed from the CD, since the CD was finalized when you were burning it. I think you're going to have to install it to be able save your own things to it.

Well, I've already altered it and burned new ones...
What still has to be done is to get rid of the 'install'
shortcut (on the desktop after boot) then burn the
altered iso (or squashfs if it goes that deep).

    For clarity:
What I've done so far is to make it automatically
boot into the 'run from CD and don't alter the computer' mode.

But I don't want that 'install' shortcut lying there on
the desktop for the kids to click on...
