Can you use a T-mobile Dash as a Modem in 8.04?

I am new to Linux and am trying to figure alot out. I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop to dual boot it (vista/Ubuntu). I am in the military going through some training right now for a few months and have to use my T-Mobile Dash as a usb modem to access the internet and such. I was wondering if in 8.04 you can use your Dash as a modem. I am running Windows mobile 6 on it and my laptop is a Sony VGR-NR110E. Also would like to know if any one knows how to get the wireless card to work on this laptop. As i stated in the beginning i am a noob to linux but am catching the hang of it through these forums. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.
