hey anybody I just left me little 2 year old watch some educational stuff on youtube and she pressed something and shifted my screen to the side, I can barely see the shut down button and I can't see the scrolling bar at all anyone any ideas?

sounds like she messed with the options on the monitor itself
I took a screen shot and it looks fine but on my left side I have a black strip and on my right side I can't see the scrolling bar or the trash icon

Have you tried first to reset the moniter? It sounds like Baby just played with the settings on your moniter, easy to do. Just play around with them untill it looks normal.
Second, have you rebooted your PC? Sometime, when all else fails, powering down and then powering up does the trick.

sorry everybody baby just unplug my router no worries Ubuntu just Got right back online "BAD BABY" anyway you were right about the monitor she press the key thats looks like it would stretch the screen I just panic b/c Im kind of new to Ubuntu and I just got it to work like a wanted thanks for quick response!!!!
