CPU Frequency Control

Hi there.
I’m a longtime ubuntu gnome user and am trying to switch to xubuntu, as I want and os with the smallest resource demands. In gnome ubuntu I could use the CPU frequency selector for my core2duo and this allowed me to see both cores and there demands - and change both of these to the lowest setting for best battery - following an alteration to the permissions on the applet. However in xubuntu there is something similar allowing me to set the speed of the CPU (or at least think I am).

However this does not appear to work, as even though I set the governor i.e. Powersave, it changes.

It also does not show both CPU cores - as the gnome one did.

Is there something I have to do to get CPU control for both cores - or at least one core for that matter?

bios settings where? Im talking about xubuntu, bios settings have not been changed since the previous implementation of ubuntu (of which worked)

you should be able to install the cpu frequency controll you
were using in grub in xfce no problem.
