Oh, I had no idea it'd be that big.

Alright then, just copy out the last 30 lines or so and put it in a smaller txt file and upload that one.

Ok, here's the last chunk of messages. Don't know why the whole thing is so large...

    I guess here's the problem:

Hm, from googling "sbxfi: Interrupts don't seem to be working.", this problem seems to tend to occur on XPS systems ... I need to check if they actually found a solution.

Edit: Well, it seems not. See here , here , and here .

Is it perhaps an OEM version of the X-Fi or did you buy it and put it in yourself?

It came with the XPS. The package slip identified it as X-Fi XtremeGamer. I am not sure if this is exactly what you get if you buy it over the counter. It seems that some people with similar problems suspect it's not...

    Re: How-To: Creative X-Fi

Ok guys, the following method worked for me.

I installed 7.10, and found that the Creative driver worked out of the box, as NullHead said. However, under 7.10 I didn't get my monitor configured (Dell SP2208WFP), and was stuck with an 800x600 resulution. So I upgraded all packages, and then clicked on upgrade to 8.04 in the upgrade manager. When I was asked whether or not to keep my old blacklist file, I kept it.

Now 8.04 is running, and sound is still working, as is my monitor!

The only thing that doesn't work is system sounds, although they are enabled (I hear the little drum when the login screen appears, but after that no more). But I do get nice sounds from applications, including YouTube.

I have never attempted a setup like that, but I'm glad it worked for you!

    Enjoy,

    Re: How-To: Creative X-Fi

The driver will not work with the X-fi Titanium. I had to edit the installer file to get it to compile and once compiled, it did not work. I also noticed that in the description for the driver, it lists most or all the X-fi cards except for the Titanium. I'm really hoping that the next driver release will have support for it and/or Alsa will release their own for it. Anybody know if support is still under development or just died? I'm about to try OSS4, but really don't want to lose hardware mixing. For about 100 bucks, nobody should have to downgrade and lose hardware mixing all because these cards are the only ones that have EAX 5.0 for gaming in Wintendo.
